Note that formation of base pairs between any two polynucleotide chains - DNA with DNA, DNA with mRNA, and mRNA with tRNA - always requires their antiparallel orientation. Note also that translation begins at the the end of the mRNA that is transcribed first. Thus, the 5' end of mRNA corresponds to the amino terminus of the encoded polypeptide.
